University of Manchester

The University of Manchester is a public research university in Manchester, England. It was formed in 2004 by the amalgamation of the Victoria University of Manchester and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and is now the largest single site University in the UK.

This Project consisted of various works to the Rumford Street Entrance Way.

It was governed by various strict time constraints due to the University being in full operation during the project so health and safety was also a major concern. These time constraints also dictated a strict order to carrying out the works, this hence involved careful project management and time planning to ensure everything was carried out in time and to plan.

The Entrance Roadway excavation and surfacing works had to be carried out in two halves to ensure access at all times.

Resurfacing and subsequent linemarking of existing Car park had to be carried out over consecutive weekends to ensure availability during the week and hence had to be left in a presentable and usable state each week creating mini time constraints within the main projects overall time constraint.
